Wow this smoothie is delicious, packed with heart healthy fiber, fat, and made to keep you full and energized!  I recommend this to all of my personal training clients in Brighton and Livingston County! The Flax provides heart healthy Omega 3 fat and loads of fiber, 2 key ingredients to keeping you full longer and full of energy.   No insulin spiking food here!  Remember you are trying to not have to add any sugar, wheat, or dairy (cholesterol free) except for the sugar in the rice milk (if you use it) and banana to avoid increases in insulin and storage of body fat.  Try to avoid adding extra sugar.

If you love peanut butter and chocolate this is for you!!!

2 Tbs Ground Flax Seed (grind weekly or buy pre-ground)

1 Tbs Coconut Flacks (Unsweetened)

1 Tbs Dark Chocolate Cocoa (Baking Cocoa)

1.5 Tbs Natual Peanut Butter (Krema Brand is what I use)

½ Banana

½ Cup Coconut Milk, Rice Milk, Almond Milk, or regular cows milk(Unsweetened)*

¼ Cup Water (Use to thin to desired thickness)

1 tsp – Stevia or Organic Agave Nectar**

*Rice Dream has a Heart Healthy Blend with more fiber and some nutrients or just regular)

** Stevia is a no calorie sweetner from an herb.  Stevia in the raw has no additives you can buy organic as well. Agave is a sweetner that has calories and sugar.   We are trying to limit sugar so make sure to taste smoothie before adding extra sugar.

Place ground flax in blender (Magic Bullet or Ninja works great) add peanut butter, coconut, cocoa, banana, and milk of choice.   Blend ingredients, add extra water for desired thickness.  I like mine with body!  Taste a full sip of smoothie then decide if you want to add agave sweetener, maple syrup, or favorite artificial sweetener.  My favorite is natural sugars however on occasion, when watching my sugar I use Stevia in the Raw or organic no additive Stevia.
