Shirlene’s True Testimony of Weight Loss

This is a story of a young woman who went from a weight of 218# to 165# through her commitment and dedication.  She was not an EverFit client but she is my Best Friend and I wanted her to share her story with you.  This is a story of true weight loss and personal weight loss change.   Enjoy!

My name is Shirlene Peavler and I am ready to share my exciting adventure of weight loss. In high school I was pretty thin and petite and did not have to worry too much about weight gain. When I started college is when the trouble began. I started gaining weight a few pounds here and there and then I was feeling not so good about myself the last couple of years.  It was a cycle of weight gain and

I realized I needed a change in my life and a change not only for weight loss but a change forever.

I also had a goal for my 30th to go skydiving with a friend and realized that dream could not come true unless I lost weight. See at that time I weighed at 218 pounds at 5 foot 1 inches which is not a good proportion size. Also my husband weighed 260 pounds at 5 foot 8 inches. We both knew we needed to do something. We also knew the whole family needed some encouragement too so all 6 of us living under the same roof started on a diet. We were following the plan for medical weight loss because both my husband and sister in law went through the program before.

I knew I needed something and also having a friend as a coach along the way stating what a great job we were doing kept the encouragement going.

We actually took a before and after picture to prove what a great job we did. We had a white board we kept out and every Sunday we would weigh in and put down who was the top person.  The support was amazing and oh so helpful.   We definitely encouraged each other each week and I think that helped each and every one of us. We did this for 12 weeks. If you can believe it or not the 6 of us lost a total of 216 pounds WOW that is a whole one of me at my beginning weight.

I am pleased to state I am now at 165 pounds and wanting to lose 15 more pounds and I am still working on this but know that THIS was a lifestyle change not just a diet.

I have learned to enjoy food the way we should enjoy it and not all the junk that is around.  My palate has changes and I taste foods a lot different and I can tell when someone puts a lot of salt and butter on something.

I went from a size 18-20 pants to a 10-12 size pants and I love myself again for my image and do not shy away from cameras anymore.

I put on clothes I kept from high school which was 11 years ago. I am grateful for also having a friend Beth who is a personal trainer that was there for support along the way.   I wanted to share this with anyone that struggles with weight loss.   It can happen, it does take time but once you get there it is a beautiful feeling. I was able to go skydiving and I am also able to run which I have never done before in my life.

I hope this is an encouragement to others and I hope you can make the same life changing as I did.
